Many conditions can be treated in the office with virtually no down time. Patients typically come in during their lunch hour, receive their treatment, and return to work. No anesthesia, no recovery time, no hassle. Whether or not you tell your friends is entirely up to you.
Skin Care

Both nature and heredity play roles in the aging of our skin. A lifetime of exposure to the sun, pollution, stress, alcohol, and smoke all weaken the skin's natural support structure. Sun exposure causes increased production of melanin -- the pigment that darkens the skin -- and promotes the development of freckles, sunspots, and skin cancer. Smoking also contributes to the formation of wrinkles, and high levels can have a damaging effect on the skin.

Good skin care begins with preventative maintenance. A proper diet and the use of multivitamins and antioxidants can help keep collagen and elastin (tissues that give skin its vitality) healthy. Using sun protection, avoiding smoking, and minimizing excess stress also help promote healthy skin. A variety of skin care products are helpful in maintaining a youthful appearance. A simple but effective skin care regimen includes regular use of a facial cleanser, an exfoliant, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen.

Normal skin consists of two layers -- the dermis below and the epidermis above. The dermis consists of collagen, which gives it strength, and elastin, which allows it to stretch. Basal cells at the bottom of the dermis produce new skin cells, which migrate to the surface to form a keratin layer known as the stratum corneum. These cells give the skin an uneven, flaky surface and are ultimately shed. With aging, there is decreased activity of the basal cells and depletion of collagen. This causes thinning and wrinkling of the skin. There is decreased shedding of the old surface cells, causing the skin's surface to become coarser, flakier, and more sallow.

A number of treatments are available to remove the coarse, wrinkled upper layer of the epidermis and revitalize the skin. Our practice is proud to offer its patients the services of Advanced Skin Care, The Skin Care Center at TomorrowsFace. Ruth Hrobak, a licensed and certified esthetician , is trained to recognize and treat superficial skin conditions caused by stress, aging, metabolic imbalances, and exposure to the elements. Ruth is experienced in analyzing the skin and in developing a method to restore and maintain its healthy complexion and youthful appearance. She also assists patients in selecting the rejuvenation products that will produce the best results, guiding patients through the pre- and post- surgery stages.

Well-versed in the art of maximizing the beauty of the skin, Ruth is adept with cosmetics and image development. Under Dr. Morrow's medical supervision, she acts as liaison between the aesthetic arena and the physician. Patients can receive the highest quality skin care and maximize the benefits of medical therapy and surgery.

Ruth will help you develop a daily skin care regimen that includes:

Cleansing
Exfoliating (gently removing impurities, "dead" skin, and fine lines and wrinkles)
Treating with vitamins and minerals
Moisturizing
Protecting the skin with sunscreens and sunblocks

Ruth is qualified to exfoliate with in-office glycolic / amino acid peels and microdermabrasion treatments to enhance the clarity and texture of the skin. Special preparations designed for use around the eyes, neck, and mouth are also available to help you achieve the look you want.

Today, "aging gracefully" has taken on a whole new meaning. Facial rejuvenation is readily available through appropriate skin care, laser resurfacing, Botox therapy, dermal fillers, as well as facial plastic surgery. Ruth helps patients who come to Advanced Skin Care at Tomorrow's Face take advantage of all the newest technology.

Medical-Grade Skin Care Products

Professional grade skin care products, or cosmeceuticals, go above and beyond their intended function of external beautification and enhancement of the skin by offering additional therapeutic and anti-aging benefits. They are formulated to improve the skin's health and appearance as well as having positive physiological effects on the skin at the cellular level.

We carry the following lines of professional grade skin care products: Skin Medica, Glytone, Avene, Ciscadia, and more.

Ingredients such as growth factors, antioxidants, retinoids, essential fatty acids, and hyaluronic acid as well as other molecules naturally found in skin provide all of the elements necessary for enhancing the natural process of skin rejuvenation.

Chemical Peels

A number of chemical agents are available to remove a variable amount of the skin surface to allow the regeneration of newer, more youthful skin. Chemical peels are classified as superficial, medium, or deep, depending on the strength of the chemical used.

The lightest peels are commonly done with glycolic or amino acid preparations, naturally occurring fruit acids found in sugar cane. We also use lactic and salicylic acids. Light facial peels loosen the bond between the top layers of dead skin cells. This enhances the body's natural exfoliation process, removing old dead cells and unblocking clogged oil pores. Superficial blemishes caused by excess pigment (such as freckles) are removed, as is dry, rough, flaky, "weathered" skin. Oil pores are cleansed, fine lines and wrinkles are softened, and age spots, freckles, and other pigmentation problems are lightened. The skin looks fresher, less tired and more youthful.

Fine wrinkles, crow's-feet, and crepe-paper skin are sometimes treated with a deeper chemical peel. Stronger chemical solutions penetrate deeper into the skin, removing more of the epidermis. Unlike light peels, which allow you to return almost immediately to work and social activities, chemical peels have a longer recovery period. For some patients, however, the benefits are significantly greater. Usually, light-skinned individuals respond better to deep peels than do those with darker skin. Dark-skinned individuals may be good candidates for light peels, however.

A series of chemical peels will leave your skin glowing and you feeling refreshed! Contact Dr. Morrow’s staff to schedule your treatment!

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-invasive procedure for resurfacing the skin and is used to treat sun damage, scarring, wrinkles, age-related skin changes, and other superficial skin problems of the face, neck, chest and other areas. This treatment can be performed during a lunch break, as it requires no down time.

Microdermabrasion is safe for all skin types including Asian, Hispanic and African American. There is no risk for skin discoloration. It restores the skin to a more youthful, radiant appearance. There is no age restriction for the use of microdermabrasion, and it is appropriate to use as needed on problematic and acne prone skin, rosacea, , sun-damaged, aging and sensitive skin. It may be used as a preventative treatment on young adults.

Microdermabrasion, or MicroExfoliation, is an effective medical skin care treatment that resurfaces the skin by a gentle superficial ablation of the epidermis, or outer layer of the skin. Abrasion of the stratum corneum removes keratin cells, which will enhance penetration of nutrients into the dermis. This in turn will help in the formation of a new stratum corneum layer of the skin. The new skin is youthful and radiant ,revealing marked improvement over the old skin’s imperfections.

The cellular debris is immediately vacuumed away, resulting in the removal of the top layer of the stratum corneum. The vacuum action increases blood flow into the dermis which increases fibroblast activity. This in turn causes an increase in collagen and elastin formation. The vacuum action reduces the size of large pores, removes dead cells, and plumps up and tightens the skin. Microdermabrasion resurfacing stimulates the production of collagen, which in turn improves skin elasticity and thickness while smoothing and tightening the skin.

After a microdermabrasion treatment, the new living skin is soft, smooth and more receptive to pharmaceutical-grade skin care products that are rich in vitamins and nutrients. Patients are encouraged to use good sun protection following treatments. Results are immediate. A complete program is 6 to 8 treatments, spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart, followed by one treatment every 2 to 3 months. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation procedures and a home skin care protocol using medical-grade skin care products. The Microdermabrasion System at Advanced Skin Care Center of Tomorrow’s Face utilizes crystal-free diamond wands
(Altair / NewApeel) for precise and uniform results.

Microdermabrasion at Advanced Skin Care of ToMorrow’s FACE is provided by Ruth Hrobak, an experienced, certified medical aesthetician supervised by Dr. Morrow. Our goal is to bring you the absolute best skin care to restore and reveal a beautiful, radiant, more youthful appearance.

Laser Treatments

Advanced laser technology provides an effective way to remove the damaged epidermis and promote the growth of newer, fresher-looking skin. The laser device gently vaporizes the skin's imperfections, revealing the new skin underneath. Laser skin resurfacing can reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crow's-feet) and the mouth, soften deep laugh and frown lines, repair sun damaged skin, and eliminate some scars. The outward signs of aging are diminished, and the tone and condition of the skin is revitalized.

The carbon dioxide and erbium lasers are typically used for laser skin resurfacing. Patients contemplating laser skin resurfacing are evaluated by the facial skin care consultant, who helps prepare the skin for the resurfacing procedure. First, a home care skin regimen is used to exfoliate the skin in order to ensure even penetration of the laser beam. A series of light peels may be recommended to provide optimal results. Before the procedure, patients are instructed to take antibiotic and antiviral medications, which are continued for a period of seven days. Vitamin C and E also are recommended to facilitate healing.

Aside from laser skin resurfacing, Dr. Morrow can use the laser to treat birthmarks or damaged blood vessels, remove port wine stains, and treat spider veins without major surgery. Other types of facial lesions that can be treated with the laser include hemangiomas, warts, scars, stretch marks, and rosacea.

Botox

Botox® is a cosmetic procedure that can simply, safely, and effectively improve frown lines, "crow's feet," and neck bands. This procedure can have remarkable results in improving the wrinkles formed by hyperactive facial muscles.

Botox® is a natural purified protein derived from bacteria under special laboratory conditions. When injected into a muscle, Botox® causes temporary weakness of the muscle, making it a useful medical treatment for eyelid spasms, crossed eyes, facial muscle imbalance, and neck muscle spasms as well as for cosmetic wrinkle treatment.

Botox® is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cosmetic purposes, confirming the successful results achieved by physicians. Hyperactive facial muscles around the eyes and lower forehead may give a person an angry or tired appearance, even when they are not experiencing these emotions. Weakening these small muscles reduces this undesirable effect and smoothes out deep "worry lines." Botox® therapy also can help treat protruding neck bands that develop with age. These are sometimes treated with surgery, but certain patients may get significant improvement through Botox® treatment.

One ten minute treatment---a few tiny injections--- relaxes the muscles that cause hyperdynamic facial lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to four months. It is fast, simple, highly effective, and minimally invasive with no downtime or recovery. Most people return directly to work after treatment. The results: dramatic and apparent within days.

Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin. It helps provide fullness and elasticity. Over time, as skin loses hyaluronic acid it also loses volume, resulting in the appearance of wrinkles and folds.

Treatment with cosmetic dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid help re-create a natural, younger-looking you. They are well-tolerated, non-surgical treatments. They are injected into the skin to restore volume and correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (naso-labial folds). Results typically last 5 to 6 months.

Regain your youthful appearance! Contact Dr. Morrow’s staff to begin the process!

Juvederm

Juvéderm® injectable gel is a smooth consistency gel dermal filler that helps to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).

Juvéderm® injectable gel temporarily adds volume to facial tissue and restores a smoother appearance to the face. Juvéderm® is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).

Juvéderm® injectable gel is available in two formulations that allow Dr. Morrow to customize treatment. Juvéderm® Ultra provides versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm® Ultra Plus is a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles.

JUVÉDERM’s® high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid allows for long-lasting results (up to one year). It also works to create a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin and provides a smooth, natural look and feel. Juvéderm® is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in persons of color.

JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is different from BOTOX® Cosmetic in several ways. Juvéderm® injectable gel is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that provides volume and is used to treat wrinkles and folds resulting from a loss of volume beneath the surface of the skin such as perioral lines and nasolabial folds (lines around your mouth and nose). Juvéderm® restores your skin's volume for a smooth, natural look and feel.

In contrast, BOTOX® Cosmetic is not a filler. BOTOX® Cosmetic relaxes muscle activity and is used to treat moderate to severe lines caused by the dominant frown muscles between the eyebrows (the glabellar area), as well as other facial regions. This allows the two vertical lines between the brows, often referred to as the “11”s, to temporarily diminish for a smoother appearance.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found in all mammals that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has also been used for more than 20 years for injection into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.

“Uncross-linked” hyaluronic acid in its natural form is in a liquid state. “Cross-linking” is the process through which hyaluronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for long-lasting results.

Dr. Morrow injects Juvéderm into the skin using a fine needle to temporarily fill in and augment the treatment area and smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds such as “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds) and “marionette lines” (oral commissures). Juvéderm® temporarily adds volume to the skin and may give the appearance of a smoother surface.

Juvéderm® injectable gel will help to smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. One treatment could smooth your lines and wrinkles for up to 1 year. To ensure your satisfaction, Dr. Morrow will schedule a follow-up visit in 2 weeks. On occasion, a touchup treatment might be recommended for optimal results. Since improvement is temporary; repeat injections are usually needed to maintain optimal correction.

The injection process takes only about 15 minutes. Treatment may cause some discomfort during and after the injection. The smooth consistency gel of Juvéderm® allows Dr. Morrow to administer it easily and smoothly. Juvéderm® is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Dr. Morrow numbs (anesthetizes) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort.

Side effects of Juviderm injectable gel are mild or moderate in nature, and their duration is short lasting (7 days or less). The most common side effects include temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. As with all skin injection procedures there is a risk of infection.

People with different skin tones/colors can be treated with JUVÉDERM®. Studies with Juvéderm® showed no increased risk of hyperpigmentation or hypertrophic scarring in patients of color.

Radiesse

Dr. Morrow uses RADIESSE dermal filler for facial contouring and augmentation. It immediately adds volume to safely contour, correct, and beautify facial features. And it continues to work over time. Its patented microsphere technology stimulates the body to produce new collagen for a soft, natural look that lasts.

RADIESSE dermal filler is made of unique, patented, calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-based gel carrier. When injected into the skin, these microspheres initially perform as a filler - they immediately provide facial volume for a soft, natural look. The transformation is noticeable right away. Over time, your body will gradually absorb the gel carrier, but the very tiny, smooth microspheres remain.

Once injected, RADIESSE dermal filler starts a process called neocollagenesis, or the creation of new collagen. It stimulates collagen production in your own body and encourages collagen growth around the injection site. In many cases, results may last up to a year or more.

RADIESSE dermal filler is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a biocompatible substance that’s identical to what’s naturally found in the body. RADIESSE dermal filler does not contain any animal- or human-derived components and it has a minimal risk of allergic reaction. After injection, RADIESSE dermal filler will not migrate to other parts of the body. Over time, it degrades naturally into calcium and phosphate ions that are safely metabolized by the body’s own processes. It has been proven to be safe and effective.

Dr. Morrow injects RADIESSE dermal filler into the skin through a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive office procedure. A local anesthetic is used as well.

RADIESSE dermal filler is made of a synthetic, biocompatible substance that’s identical to what’s naturally found in the body. Because RADIESSE dermal filler does not contain any animal- or human-derived components, there’s virtually no risk of an allergic reaction. That means you do not need to undergo skin allergy testing prior to treatment. However, if you believe you are having an allergic reaction to RADIESSE dermal filler, contact Dr. Morrow immediately.

There have been very few side effects reported in clinical trials and actual usage. However, you may experience some common injection-related reactions, such as mild irritation, edema, swelling, itching, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection site. These conditions typically resolve themselves within one to two days.

Patients may need to refrain from taking some medications and supplements for a few days prior to treatment, specifically any that can cause easy bruisability. If you’re taking aspirin, motrin, advil, vitamin E or the like, please tell Dr. Morrow before receiving treatment.

You will see results immediately after treatment. RADIESSE dermal filler continues to deliver results over time as it stimulates your body to produce new collagen. Results may last up to a year or more in many patients, which may result in fewer office visits for retreatment. Individual results may vary, depending on age, skin type, lifestyle, and metabolic rate, so be sure to discuss your expectations with Dr. Morrow. Treatment results last a long time, but they are not permanent. The tiny, calcium-based microspheres in RADIESSE dermal filler eventually break down into calcium and phosphate ions. These ions are safely and naturally absorbed into your body, leaving your own newly produced collagen in place.

Most patients experience little to no downtime and return to normal activities almost immediately after treatment. Other patients may need more time for recovery. By 24 hours after treatment, most swelling and redness will have subsided.

RADIESSE dermal filler stays soft and will take on the characteristics of the surrounding tissue.

Many patients will achieve their desired result after just one treatment. To ensure your satisfaction, Dr. Morrow will schedule a follow-up visit in 2 weeks. A touchup treatment might be recommended and given at 3 months.

Because treatment is customized for each patient, the cost varies. In general, the cost of RADIESSE dermal filler is comparable to that of similar fillers. The results may last up to a year or more for many patients. That means you may need fewer office visits for retreatment, which could save you money and time. Dr. Morrow will determine how RADIESSE dermal filler can best meet your individual needs.

Latisse

LATISSE™ solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis (a condition of inadequate or insufficient eyelashes). Latisse is used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker.

LATISSE™ is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle: first by increasing the length of the phase and second, by increasing the number of hairs in this growth phase. The exact way it works is unknown.

LATISSE™ is a once-a-day treatment you apply yourself each evening to the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes. Latisse is applied nightly, after all make-up and contact lenses have been removed. The sterile applicator containing one drop of the solution is drawn carefully along the skin at the base of the upper eyelashes, in much the same way as liquid eyeliner is applied. The area should feel lightly moist without runoff. Any excess solution beyond the eyelid should be blotted with a tissue. After the opposite eyelid is treated, the applicator is thrown away.

LATISSE™ users may see results starting at 4 weeks with full results after 16 weeks. The growth is gradual overnight, over time. LATISSE™ does not work in place of mascara. However, mascara is a nice complement to LATISSE™ to help make your new longer eyelashes look even more attractive.

If you miss one or more applications, don't try to catch up. Just apply the LATISSE™ treatment the next evening and stay on schedule. If you stop using LATISSE™ altogether, your eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months.

The most common side effects seen after using LATISSE™ solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. This was reported in approximately 4% of patients. LATISSE™ solution may cause other less common side effects which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE™ is applied, or in the eyes. These include skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. These may be reversible after discontinuation of the product. Eye redness or itching may occur immediately after use, but should usually last only for a short period of time (2 weeks). Eye redness / itching alone is not an allergic reaction or inflammation, and doesn't mean that your eyes are being harmed. Applicators should be used as instructed to help minimize the occurrence of these conditions.

Because LATISSE™ solution is an ophthalmic drug product, if any gets into the eye, it is not expected to cause harm. The eye should not be rinsed.

Do not use LATISSE™ solution if you are allergic to one of its ingredients: bimatoprost, benzalkonium chloride; sodium chloride; sodium phosphate, dibasic; citric acid; and purified water.

LATISSE™ may decrease the pressure inside the eye (IOP). Let your doctor know if you are using IOP-lowering medications. Concurrent administration of LATISSE™ and certain IOP-lowering medications in ocular hypertensive patients should be closely monitored for changes in intraocular pressure.

Eye color change – iris pigmentation – was not reported in the LATISSE™ clinical trials. Iris pigmentation has occurred in patients who applied similar medications directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure/glaucoma. Keep in mind that the amount of product applied to the base of the upper eyelashes is only 5% of the volume when compared with the amount applied directly into the eye. Most of LATISSE™ is absorbed by the skin at the upper eyelid margin.

Applied nightly, the transfer of LATISSE™ solution from the upper to lower eyelid may occur naturally because the eyelids are closed and the eyelashes touch each other. Over application may increase the chance of experiencing side effects. To ensure safety and maximize effectiveness, please follow the directions provided and apply only to the upper eyelashes.
